Biannual Compliance Training Launching Soon

The 2026 Fall Biannual Compliance Training will help Georgia Tech employees understand and uphold the University System of Georgia (USG) and the Institute’s policies and compliance obligations. All faculty, staff, and students who are active employees as of Aug. 21 will be required to complete the training by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Monday, Sept. 21.  

“As regulatory environments continue to evolve, Institute-wide learning and development are essential to helping employees understand their responsibilities and respond consistently to compliance obligations,” said Joshua B. Toas, chief ethics and compliance officer. “The 2026 Fall Biannual Compliance Training will help employees recognize common security risks, apply policy requirements in daily work, protect institutional resources, and know where to turn for guidance when questions arise. The active participation of our employees demonstrates a shared commitment to ethics, compliance, and accountability across the Institute.” 

As with previous campaigns, the training also includes learning modules designed to help employees protect themselves and the Institute from cyberattacks. 

“Every member of the Georgia Tech community plays a role in protecting the Institute’s systems and data,” added Leo Howell, vice president for Information Technology and chief information officer. “As cyberthreats continue to evolve, including increasingly sophisticated social engineering and AI-enabled attacks, security awareness is more important than ever. These training modules help equip employees with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions and recognize cyberthreats when they come across them.” 

The training will be available at b.gatech.edu/genius beginning Aug. 31 and will take approximately 120 minutes. 

The Three-Part 2026 Fall Biannual Compliance Training Includes: 

Part 1:  

• University System of Georgia Ethics Refresher. 

• Ethics in Action at Georgia Tech (includes Conflict of Interest attestation). 

• Identifying and Responding to Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct. 

• Controlled Unclassified Information Overview. 

• Responsible Conduct of Research Overview. 

• Sensitive Data Overview. 

Part 2: 2026 KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training 

Part 3: A Deepfake Social Engineering Attack 

The training modules can be completed on a desktop or laptop and do not need to be finished at one time. Employees who do not complete the training by the deadline may face disciplinary action by the Institute.
